Complete the Plan to Attend form or email us at transfer@cnu.edu. A link to the Plan to Attend form is located in your offer of admission.

All final official college transcripts and high school transcripts must be sent to Transfer Admission and Enrollment. Final transcripts must be received by the first week of August for fall admission and by the first week of January for spring admission.

Changing Tides is an orientation program specific for transfer students and their families. It is designed for you to connect with other students, learn more about academic and campus life, and explore campus resources. We have programs in August and in January.

Yes. We value your success over the next few years and want you to be aware of our expectations and the resources we have to support you. If you are unable to attend then you must contact the Office of the Dean of Students at dosa@cnu.edu.

You must complete all questions in the Residency and Parent/Legal Guardian Residency sections of the Common Application if you are claiming entitlement to in-state tuition privileges.

Supporting documents may be requested and must be received on or before the first day of the semester or term for which you are applying if you wish to be considered for in-state status. This form should be returned as soon as possible in order to receive Virginia grant consideration; however, it must be received before the first day of classes of the term or semester in which you are applying. Additional information may be requested beyond the application. Email transfer@cnu.edu if you have any questions.

All transfer applicants are reviewed for transfer scholarships. A separate application is not required. If you meet the qualifications, you will be notified near the beginning of the term. Available private scholarships are based on either financial need or academic achievement. All scholarships which include need as a component are awarded by the Office of Financial Aid. To be considered for any need-based scholarship, you must complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

The Board of Visitors makes a final determination on the tuition and fee costs in May. Current tuition, room and board information is available at cnu.edu/tuition.

Yes. The plan allows you to pay your annual tuition and fees in 10 equal monthly installments. Contact the Business Office for more information.

Interested in living on campus? Visit our Housing Portal and choose the Transfer Students Tab. Click on the Contract Acceptance button and complete the housing contract. Once completed, email the form to reslife@cnu.edu.

Please note that on-campus housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis. Transfer students are not required to live on campus.

Once you confirm you will be attending Christopher Newport, you'll receive your welcome packet via email and receive your student ID during Changing Tides.

Christopher Newport has a highly trained police force that is certified through the Police Academy and Virginia Department of Criminal Services and is augmented with security personnel and police aides.

The University has a dedicated emergency website, cnualert.info, that gives up-to-date information and instructions in case of an emergency. You can sign up to receive text messages and emails when an emergency situation occurs.

Christopher Newport utilizes a decentralized support system to provide reasonable accommodations which make education accessible to students with qualified disabilities. Visit Accessibility and Care Team Support for more information and to request for accommodations.

As a full- or part-time student, you receive educational discounts through special pricing on Macs, Apple software and select third-party software. There will be an Apple representative on site to answer any questions about Apple machines, and you can purchase or order the computer you will need. Visit the the Captains Locker for more information.

It’s up to you. If you choose to bring a laptop, classrooms are wired for use and students regularly use laptops in class. IT Services has some recommendations for laptops. 

Yes. Christopher Newport offers wireless access in all academic buildings. In addition, the David Student Union, Freeman Center and residence hall lobbies are also wireless.
