CNU Day is more than just an annual fundraiser—it’s a powerful celebration of Captain spirit and generosity. Each spring, the Christopher Newport community comes together for a single day to make a lasting impact on the university we love. This is our moment to give back, pay it forward, and ensure future generations of Captains have the same transformative experiences we cherish. There are many ways to get involved and make a difference.

We have many ways you can give, choose the way that is most convenient for you.

Company Match

Many companies and organizations encourage charitable contributions through their matching-gift program. This program allows employees’ gifts to the University to be matched by their employer, increasing their impact or even doubling their value. Check with your employer’s human resource department for more information on whether your company participates. If you have any questions about it, please reach out to Jagdeep Sehmi at jagdeep.sehmi@cnu.edu or (757) 594-7162.

Absolutely! Give where your heart leads. You can direct your support to scholarships, athletics, academic programs, departments, or any area that inspires you. 100% of your contribution goes exactly to the area you choose, creating real impact where it matters most. Your gift will change lives!

All gifts made on CNU Day are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. If you give online, you will receive an email receipt of your donation for tax purposes. If you give on the phone or by mail, you will receive a receipt via USPS mail.

Yes! Every gift—no matter the size—makes an impact. Your contribution supports our commitment to be anchored in excellence. Captains excel when we come together, rising to the challenge, and paying it forward for the next generation.

High participation, particularly from our alumni, is vital to our continued success. As Christopher Newport climbs in national rankings, alumni giving is a key driver. Every gift strengthens our programs, enhances our reputation, and increases the value of a Christopher Newport degree. Your support truly makes a difference!

The minimum gift is $1.

We would love to know if you’re attending! While RSVPs are not required, they help us plan a great experience for you. Walkups at every happy hour are welcome and encouraged!
