Exit Counseling
Students who have taken out a federal student loan at any point during their time enrolled at Christopher Newport University are required to complete Exit Counseling. Exit Counseling is designed to assist students with understanding their rights and responsibilities that applies to their federal loans.
Once federal direct loan borrowers have left an institution or dropped below half-time, they will receive repayment information directly from their Loan Servicer during their 6-month grace period.
If you need a starting off point to understand your federal direct loans, the amount owed, and how to pay them back, there is a “Repaying Student Loans 101” at studentaid.gov. The website gives information about understanding the basics of your federal direct loans without being overwhelming.
