Virginia is honoring President Trible in a remarkable and unprecedented way. Governor Glenn Youngkin has proclaimed July 31, 2022 to be The Honorable Paul S. Trible, Jr. Day in the commonwealth of Virginia.

The day commemorates President Trible’s 50-year journey in public service. Youngkin's proclamation recognizes Trible’s accomplishments as a law clerk in the United States District Court for Eastern Virginia, an assistant U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia, commonwealth's attorney for Essex County, as United States congressman, United States senator and president of Christopher Newport University.

Governor Youngkin commended President Trible’s dedication, sacrifice and lifetime of contributions during a ceremony at the governor’s mansion. The governor praised President Trible’s exemplary leadership, which included growing the university’s endowment to $64 million, completing over $1 billion in capital projects, dramatically raising enrollment and graduation rates, and creating a legacy of national recognition for Christopher Newport.
