Christopher Newport Ranked in the Nation’s Top 10 for Career Preparation

The Princeton Review ranks Christopher Newport #7 nationally for Internships and #9 for Making an Impact.

Christopher Newport has been selected as one of the nation’s best values when it comes to preparing students for successful careers and for making an impact.

In The Princeton Review’s annual list of the nation’s Best Value Colleges for 2023, Christopher Newport was selected as a top 10 public school (#7) for Internships. The ranking is based on student feedback regarding the accessibility of internship placement across all majors.

Christopher Newport was also ranked in the top 10 public schools (#9) for Making an Impact. This ranking, also based on student responses, examines community service opportunities, student government, sustainability efforts, and on-campus student engagement.

The ranking supports the University’s ongoing commitment to preparing students for success after graduation, as Internships and Service are two of Christopher Newport’s Four Pillars. The Four Pillars are high-impact practices that lead to stronger student engagement as well as post-graduation success.

The University’s Center for Career Planning offers students a variety of resources and services related to internships. The Center provides guidance and support through the application process, and also offers assistance in tailoring opportunities to a student’s interests and needs.

Meanwhile, the University’s Center for Community Engagement offers students a multitude of ways to connect and serve in the local community. Students who want to have a meaningful service experience and make an impactful contribution can do so through programs such as Bonner Service Scholars or Ferguson Fellowships.

The Princeton Review based its Best Value Colleges Ranking 2023 on an analysis of more than 40 data points that cover academics, affordability, and career outcomes of graduates. The rankings are released annually to help students identify the best and most affordable colleges.
