There’s plenty to do before the big football game Saturday afternoon against Kean University. Here’s a preview of what’s in store:
- Future Captains: Catch the spirit of Christopher Newport at a Saturday Open House. Tour our beautiful campus, meet our accomplished faculty from every academic department, and learn about housing, athletics, financial aid and more! Register for Saturday's Open House
- 12th Annual Captains Choice Classic Golf Tournament: The tournament will once again be a feature event of CNU’s Homecoming Weekend, and will be hosted at the private James River Country Club in Newport News.Help support tournaments tradition of raising funds for important benefactors, such as The Peninsula Alumni Chapter Endowed Scholarship Fund, Fear2Freedom, The Gregory P. Klich Alumni House, and the Lighthouse Student COVID-Hardship Fund.
- Friday at the Ferguson Center: Experience a night of unforgettable music when Van Cliburn Gold Medal-awarded pianist Olga Kern joins the Virginia Symphony Orchestra for a concert featuring the music of Rachmaninoff’s Third Piano Concerto. Purchase your tickets for the concerto
- Shoe Lane Lights: Enjoy Shoe Lane Lights (90’s Edition) featuring the Uncle Jesse Band on Walker’s Green at the Gregory P. Klich Alumni House. Register today to enjoy 90s music with your fellow Captains
- Friday Volleyball and Midnight Madness: Christopher Newport's volleyball team opens the weekend of action on Friday at the Freeman Center. The Captains host Mary Washington beginning at 6:00 p.m. Following the match, the Christopher Newport men's and women's basketball teams will hit the floor for Midnight Madness, a wonderful opportunity to see the 2023-2024 Captains in action. The events are free and open to the public.
- Alumni Alley: Visit the Tailgate Zone from 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Saturday to experience Alumni Alley! The Office of Alumni Relations will be selling exclusive Homecoming merchandise and various alumni chapters will be hosting tailgates of their own. Come say “hi” to the Marching Captains Alumni Chapter, 20th Century Greek members, various academic departments, the Multicultural Alumni Chapter, and more!
- Campus Activities Board Homecoming Tailgate: Join us on Saturday from 11 a.m. -1 p.m. in the Main parking lot to celebrate the big game with CNU spirit gear!
- Football Game: The Captains host Kean University Saturday with kickoff at 1:00 p.m. Gates open at 12 p.m. at Kelchner Field at TowneBank Stadium. All chairback tickets are sold out, however there are reserved bleacher and general admission tickets still available by calling the CNU ticket office at 757-594-7880. Remaining tickets will go on sale at 11 a.m.Saturday morning at the stadium. Tailgate passes for the day are sold out.
- Parking Shuttles: Additional Parking Opportunities To ensure sufficient parking is available on Game Day, free parking can be found at the Mariner's Museum, located at 100 Museum Drive, for all campus guests on Homecoming. CNU shuttle vans will be running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday to transport guests from the Mariner's Museum parking lot to the stadium and back free of charge.
- Women's Soccer Saturday Night: Christopher Newport's women's soccer team will host Roanoke College at 5 p.m. on Saturday at Captains Field. Catch the top-ranked Captains in action on Senior Night.
